For the first time in Barcelona, room 3 of Razzmatazz hosts the best sample of current Menorcan New Bands:
TUOMALA became known with the heavy metal group Malas Artes and has also been part of bands such as Dalt S’Era and The Other Side, dedicated to making Pink Floyd covers. After 20 years sheltered under collective names, Pedro Sánchez Tuomala presented himself as Tuomala last year with the EP XL (self-released), and now he is releasing his first full-length:
Don’t you see it shining again? (self-published, 2024)
VERLAAT, influenced by both near and far artists, does not marry any musical style, leaving the door open to resources of all kinds. Thus, his songs sound in Pop-Rock, Ska or Funk, but Menorcan folklore, Latin American rhythms or even electronics are also present. Verlaat come loaded with melodies that you can’t stop singing, danceable and happy rhythms and narrative, critical lyrics connected to the island.
DAHLIA is a Menorcan music group formed by Joan Dabén Florit, Joanjo Serra Florit, Josep Peñalver Anglada, Joan Rotger Julià and Guillem Pons Taltavull. Their music surrounds different musical styles such as alternative pop and progressive rock. Dahlia stands out for her intimate, colloquial lyrics with a strong reflective character that resonate with the personal world in a particular way: confusion, absurdity and nostalgia guide the group’s first steps.
